Key Metrics

We provide TikTok search metrics for targeted hashtags:

  • Total views per date

  • Total videos per date

  • Engagement ratio: Total views / Total videos

Total view: lifetime total of views generated by the hashtag. For example, the hashtag #nylopolo has generated more than 24k views since it appeared on TikTok.


Total videos: Gain insights into content creation by checking how many videos include specific hashtags. For instance, #nylonpolo has appeared in 3k videos.

Engagement Ratio: Evaluate engagement by calculating the ratio of views to videos. For example, #nylonpolo has an engagement ratio of 8,192 (= total views / total of videos).

Geographical Scope

All metrics are computed at global scale.

As for now, there is no split by country available within Trajaan.


Data Update Frequency

Data is refreshed weekly or monthly, enabling you to track hashtag performance over time.

How to set up a project with TikTok Trends?

Activate the source: Go to "Configuration" > "Settings" > "Sources," enable TikTok, and click "Update."

Get hashtags converted into hashtags: once you activate the TikTok data source, all search queries contained in your setup are automatically converted into hashtags (#).


All queries that you will eventually add will be also transformed into hashtags.

All these hashtags will be available from the analytics section.



If you assign a label to a hashtag/query, you will retrieve aggregated views and videos by label, within the analytics section.


Frequently Asked Questions

Is this broad or exact match?

Our TikTok Trends feature also captures data from videos where hashtags are mentioned in the description, even if the hashtag symbol (#) is not used directly.

For example, if a video description includes "discover the new cyber truck" but uses hashtags like #car or #tesla, the data will still include mentions of terms like "cyber" or "truck". This comprehensive approach ensures a broader analysis of trend performance and audience engagement.

How is TikTok data collected?
We retrieve data from TikTok's search results endpoints using their API. This allows us to access total views and total video counts for each hashtag. We do not collect data on individual videos or profiles, in compliance with TikTok's usage policies.

Are the data points based on user searches or keywords posted on TikTok?
Our data is based on keywords and/or hashtags that appear in TikTok's search results, excluding comments. We focus on total videos and total views per hashtag, without including comment counts.

Can we get historical data points?
Historical data is not available at this time. But we start storing data points from the project creation.
