AWS S3 is a cloud storage service provided by Amazon Web Services. It allows users to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere on the web. This article will provide an overview of AWS S3 and how to use it.

Trajaan is fully compatible with Amazon S3. You can create an Amazon S3 connector to export your data to a Amazon S3 bucket. There are two possible configurations.

Configuration A: Use your own Amazon S3 (recommended)

💡Using your own Amazon S3 will give you more flexibility with your bucket (you'll be able to do anything you want with it) and full control of your data (as it's hosted in your AWS account).

⚙️ Files exported to S3 will be in the standard CSV format. If you need another format, please contact our team!

  1. Navigate to the company settings page and select the Connectors tab. Here, you can create or manage your connectors. To create a BigQuery connector, click on the "Create new connector" button, which will open a modal. Then, select "AWS S3 bucket".

  2. Enter the name of you choice to identify this connector like “mycompany-s3”

  3. Enter the bucket name where you want your data to be exported. How to create a bucket ?

  4. Set up a bucket policy for the configured bucket to allow Trajaan to export data to it. Copy and paste the policy generated for you in the modal. How to set up a bucket policy?

  5. Click the "Create" button, and you're all set!

⚠️ Trajaan doesn't store any credentials to access your AWS S3 bucket, nor does it have access to anything else in your AWS account. The only exception is the permission to create and manage the data exported to the specific bucket where you grant us access.

Configuration B: Use Trajaan's internal S3 bucket

If you don't have access to Amazon S3 or don't want to host the data in your own AWS S3 bucket for specific reasons, we can set up the connector to use Trajaan's internal S3 bucket and give you read permissions on it.

To do so, contact our CSM team!
